9831 East Ave applied for asbestos abatement permit at Layne Elementary
Jefferson County Public Schools plans to remove floor tile and adhesive mastic from Classroom 211 at Layne Elementary, 9831 East Ave, after water damage left sections of tile loose. Owner Jefferson County School District Fin has contracted RH Environmental to perform asbestos abatement using wet methods, hand tools or electric scrapers, HEPA vacuums, and sealed polyethylene bags with disposal at WM – Outer Loop Landfill. The work is scheduled for Jan. 30–Feb. 2, 2026 and will be overseen by certified supervisors, so it looks like a targeted, short cleanup rather than a full renovation.
