435 S 5TH ST Encroachment Permit issued for sidewalk and curb lane closures

Louisville Gas & Electric Company has an emergency encroachment permit for electrical work at 435 S 5th St, a property owned by the Roman Catholic Bishop of Louisville. Between W Muhammad Ali Blvd and Cathedral Alley they’ll close the easternmost sidewalk and the easternmost northbound curb lane from April 22–29, 2026 to restore power to a customer through an underground vault — no pavement cuts are planned, so it’s a targeted fix rather than a big dig.
