1600 W Muhammad Ali Blvd 1 encroachment permit issued

Louisville Gas and Electric is scheduled to repair a gas leak at 1600 W Muhammad Ali Blvd, Unit 1, with work taking place between S 16th and S 17th Streets. Applicant Kaitlyn Downs says the project (on property owned by New Directions Housing Corp) will close the southernmost westbound curb lane and the southernmost sidewalk so crews can make one 3' x 5' concrete cut; any damaged sidewalk panels will be replaced in full and restorations will follow LMPW utility rules. The work is set for Feb. 11–March 11, 2026, so expect temporary sidewalk and lane closures during that window.
